A motor vehicle repairer who breached licensing requirements and failed to comply with conditions set by Consumer Protection has had his certificate cancelled by the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
Bradley Sabo of Dalwallinu failed to inform Consumer Protection of a criminal conviction, failed to provide a National Police Certificate that is less than three months old contrary to the condition on his repairer’s certificate and also failed to notify a change of his address within 14 days, as required by the Motor Vehicle Repairers Act.
His certificate to operate as a motor vehicle repairer in WA is cancelled until further orders are made by SAT.
Commissioner for Consumer Protection David Hillyard said it was imperative that all licence holders comply with the law and any special conditions on their licence.
“The laws are designed to protect consumers by ensuring that only fit and proper people are allowed to operate in the motor vehicle repair industry,” Mr Hillyard said.
“Operators risk losing their licence or certificate if they fail to meet any conditions or fail to inform the Department of any convictions or changes in personal details.”
More information on licensing requirements for the motor vehicle industry is available on the Consumer Protection website www.consumerprotection.wa.gov.au. Enquiries can be made by emailing consumer@dmirs.wa.gov.au or calling 1300 30 40 54.
